The Self-Regulated Student

Classrooms are full of individual needs, most of which include students who are not regulated for a variety of reasons. From students who have a hard time sitting still and focusing, to anxieties and other emotional dysregulation. Let’s give their bodies what they need so they can access calm, safety and focus. The Self-Regulated Student focuses on specific movements and exercises, from an occupational therapy standpoint, that help to calm the nervous system, allowing students to access their full potential.

What Was That?

Connor is an energetic boy who is always moving around. He is good at doing a lot of things, like running, climbing, swinging, jumping and keeping up with his older siblings. He also makes a lot of noise when he’s on the go! His family starts to worry when they hear strange noises around the house that don’t belong. What could they be? As you read along, what do YOU think is making the sounds that Connor’s family is hearing?

When you can’t fall asleep do you count sheep? Or maybe sing yourself a song? But what about when it’s TOO HOT to fall asleep, what do you do then?

Michael gets ready for bed, including putting on his favourite pair of pyjamas, but he can’t fall asleep because it’s too hot in his room. His mom gives him different suggestions to try to cool down but he has his own idea of what could help. Uh oh!

The Only COLD
Place in the House

That’s NOT How You Do Ballet!

Chloe loves to dance, especially ballet. She works hard to get the moves just right. Her family also loves to dance, but they are doing ballet all wrong! Chloe has to decide what is more important to her as she struggles to watch the chaos her family calls dancing. Dance along with Chloe’s family as Chloe learns that some things are more important than dancing ballet just right.

That’s NOT How You Do Ballet! is a fun story for the whole family!
We have a lot of fun looking for the animals hiding in both books!
My daughter and I enjoyed The Only Cold Place in the House before bed as it allowed her to share how she gets comfortable and ready for sleep.
